How Wasserij de Beek Chooses Simplicity and Quality with BÜFA-Care

Professional Laundry with a Focus on Sustainability and Efficiency

Wasserij de Beek is a family-owned company with a rich history. For more than 130 years, they have been washing and processing textiles for customers in the hospitality sector. From hotels and holiday parks to wellness centres and industrial workwear: everything is sorted, washed, dried, folded, sometimes packaged, and delivered using their own transport. Thanks to an efficient logistics structure, they are able to handle large volumes professionally and reliably.

What began as seasonal work with a clear summer peak has gradually evolved into a year-round operation. Holiday parks increasingly offer hotel stays, which means linen is also in demand during the winter months. This development calls for stable and reliable processes.

The challenge: a need for a modern, measurable laundry solution

For Wasserij de Beek, innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement are essential values. The company places great importance on working as efficiently as possible and is always open to new solutions. When the time came to set up a new chemical station, it was the perfect opportunity to modernise. The requirements were clear: a future-proof installation, a platform that provides insights into all relevant data, and the ability to monitor processes more effectively. BÜFA-Care proved to be the right fit—offering not only the right products but also expertise in process and logistics.

The switch to BÜFA-Care was therefore more than just changing suppliers. It was a strategic long-term decision, with the balance between cost and quality of service proving decisive.

A deliberate choice for simplicity

In practice, Wasserij de Beek made a conscious decision to go back to basics. This approach reflected their wish to maintain simplicity and control in a complex laundry process with many different product flows. Instead of working with a broad range of detergents, they now rely on a clear, manageable selection of BÜFA-Care products. These are complemented by base chemicals from Vivochem, ensuring a suitable solution for every type of stain. This combination is unique in the market: because BÜFA-Care is part of Vivochem, Wasserij de Beek can turn to a single partner for both laundry products and base chemicals.

“If you use a different product for every type of stain, you lose a clear overview. This basic setup works best for us.”

That decision was reinforced when they tested a new product line. While the concept was promising, in practice, it did not align with Wasserij de Beek’s processes. Returning to a proven, straightforward solution highlighted that sometimes simplicity is the smartest choice. BÜFA-Care not only supplied the products but also contributed to the process design. With the support of German colleagues from BÜFA Cleaning, the new system was built and optimised.

Collaboration: learning and improving

The collaboration was not without its challenges. Scheduling could have been tighter, and coordination was at times not entirely smooth. What stood out, however, was how quickly adjustments were made. Feedback was taken seriously and acted upon, leading to visible improvements. Communication became sharper, issues were addressed, and the partnership strengthened.

The cooperation between Matthijs and Alex from BÜFA-Care is also mentioned as a strong point: two complementary areas of expertise that provide continuity and drive optimisation throughout the process.

Results so far

Wasserij de Beek now works with a selection of BÜFA-Care products tailored to their processes and sustainability goals. They use proven detergents and have structured their operations exactly as they want them: clear, measurable, and aligned with customer needs. The logistics solution offered by BÜFA-Care/Vivochem—delivery in Variboxes (double-walled IBCs that ensure safe storage of hazardous substances) using their own transport—is seen as a major advantage.

Sustainability plays a central role, with efficiency gains achieved mainly through process improvements. Washing at lower temperatures, optimising load capacity and dosing, and reducing waste have already delivered significant results. In the future, the laundry aims to take further steps towards sustainability by introducing more environmentally friendly products. For now, the foundation has been laid with a tightly managed, measurable process.

Looking ahead

The foundation is in place, but the partnership continues to grow. Improvements such as more precise planning have already been implemented, and there is confidence that this progress will continue.

The open attitude and short communication lines make Wasserij de Beek value the partnership with BÜFA-Care highly. Not only because of the products, but also because of the joint ambition to improve processes and make them more sustainable.

“You don’t simply change detergent suppliers overnight. It’s a process that takes time and trust. Of course, the balance between cost and quality was important, but what we were really looking for was a partner who would contribute valuable ideas and adapt with us. We found that partner in BÜFA-Care; they worked with us to design a chemical storage system that fits seamlessly with Vivochem’s transport packaging.”
