What is Butyldiglycol acetate?
Butyldiglycol acetate (BDGA) is a colourless liquid with a distinctive odour and is moderately soluble in water. BDGA is easily soluble in the most common organic solvents.
Butyldiglycol acetate is widely used as a solvent in paints, lacquers, inks and coatings. Even in low concentrations, BDGA improves the flow of coatings. The product is also an extremely suitable solvent for wood chippings, furniture cleaners and ballpoint pen pastes. A low concentration of BDGA (1 to 2%) already significantly increases the viscosity of PVC, making its processing easier. Also, the same low concentration of BDGA slows down the thickening of PVC pastes during storage.
