Applications of Glycerin
Glycerin is mainly used as a softener and anti-freezing agent for industrial applications. In the medical industry, Glycerin has applications as an additive in cough syrup and vaccines because of its smoothing and soothing properties. The personal care industry uses the substance as a moisture-retaining agent in cosmetics such as toothpaste, shampoo, hand cream and soap. Glycerin lowers the surface tension of water and is often found in the bubble-blowing fluid.
In the food industry (food), Glycerin is often used as a solvent or sweetener in sweets, pastries and margarine. Also, in the feed industry (feed) (raw), Glycerin is used as a preservative.
