What is Isopropyl Alcohol?
Isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol, IPA) or 2-Propanol (Propane-2-ol) is a colourless and clear liquid that is easily soluble in water, among other things. It is mainly used as rubbing alcohol in various hygienic and antibacterial products such as hand gel and disinfectants. IPA also has its applications in both household and industrial cleaning products. IPA (1 to 3%) is also used to denature Ethanol, which makes the Ethanol unfit for human consumption.
