What is O-xylene?
O-xylene (ortho-xylene; 1,2-dimethylbenzene) is a colourless, oily, flammable liquid. Xylene comes from oil refining. Xylene is extracted from crude oil by catalytic reforming. Furthermore, Xylene has three isomers, of which O-xylene is one.
O-Xylene is widely used in producing Phthalic anhydride, a precursor for many materials, medications and other chemicals.
