In the agricultural sector, Potassium chloride is used as a (component of) fertilizer. Also, in the technical industry, primarily as road salt, the substance is increasingly used as the freezing temperature is lower than that of sodium chloride (brine). In the refining of metals, Potassium chloride is used as a component of melting salt. In the food industry, Potassium chloride (E508) is a flavour enhancer in various food preparations. Potassium chloride is considered a healthier alternative to table salt (sodium chloride) and is marketed under the term 'low sodium salt'.
