The product can be added to foods as an emulsifier (E-number E425i). In the ceramics industry, Sodium Hexametaphosphate is used as a flocculant. To prevent stains and tartar on the teeth, SHMP is added as an active ingredient in toothpaste. In remediation work, sodium hexametaphosphate is used to disperse clay and other soil types.
