What is Sodium tripolyphosphate?
Sodium tripolyphosphate (NTPP), also called Pentasodium triphosphate, is the sodium salt of triphosphoric acid. It occurs as a white, odourless, crystalline powder. NTPP is relatively soluble in water.
Sodium tripolyphosphate is a stabilizer and emulsifier in the food industry (E451). It is also added to detergents as a water softener.
