What is Tartaric acid?
Tartaric acid, also called 2,3-Dihydroxybutanediic acid, is a dicarboxylic acid. The pure substance is a white crystalline powder that dissolves easily in water. It occurs naturally in various fruits, such as grapes and bananas.
Tartaric acid is used in cosmetics, medicine and the textile industry. Also, Tartaric acid is used as an antioxidant in warm climates to make the taste of wine fresher.
